Philadelphia, Apr. 27 – The 2017 Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field in Philadelphia is, once again, bringing together elite athletes representing their countries, schools, and other institutions as they seek to make their mark.

The Saturday afternoon final-day USA vs. The World events have always been a big attraction, and this year’s renewal (the 123rd edition) promises to be no different.

According to an early press release, the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, and the USA are among the teams set to compete in high-profile USA vs. The World races, such as the 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m, and medley relays for both men and women. In addition, other participating countries who later announced their participation, will compete.

The Penn Relay Carnival began in 1895 and is the longest uninterrupted collegiate meet in the US. The event has drawn top high school, college and world-class athletes from around the world and has been the place where numerous American and world records were set.

Competition began Thursday, April 27, and culminates tomorrow.
